(6277) Resistance block, or Moisture block
A soil water sensing device that consists of electrodes embedded in a porous medium. When inserted in the soil, the water content of the medium equilibrates with the soil water content and is related to the electrical resistance of the medium as sensed between the electrodes. When the medium is gypsum, the device is often called a `gypsum block` or `Bouyoucos block`.
